School county secondary school for children aged 11-18 years old.
The school serves the town of Caernarfon and the nearby villages which include Rhosgadfan, Rhostryfan, Llandwrog, Bontnewydd, Caeathro and Y Felinheli. The catchment area is naturally Welsh which in turn makes this school unique in its Welshness, with more than 98% of the pupils following a Welsh First Language course.
The town and school have their own particular history and a close relationship has been forged between us which is still going from strength to strength.
As well as being an important link between parents, governors and pupils the website is here for anyone who needs information about what happens in Ysgol Syr Hugh.
You will find various pieces of information and news and be able to find out about what happens outside the curriculum and outside the boundaries of the school building. I hope that you will enjoy browsing through the pictures, stories and messages.
As parents you should ensure that your child takes full advantage of the e-learning link which gives access to homework, notes and revision material. Through this the learning hours are extended and it brings the school more into the home. This is an aspect which is sure to be popular with every pupil and probably spells the way forward to raise standards and bring out the best in the children of Caernarfon and surrounding area.
